SEPTEMBER 2008

*AND SUDDENLY SUMMER IS GONE!*

*Our Annual Baseball Game this year has been scheduled for Sunday, August 31, 2008 in Joliet, Illinois. There will be some changes this year in that we will meet at 230pm at Giovan's Restaurant at 1804 North Larkin Avenue in Crest Hill, Illinois and then, after a comfortable afternoon late lunch we will proceed over to the ballpark to watch the game starting at 505pm. Fireworks will follow as soon as it is dark. Several of our Members asked for better food arrangements so we hope this will be enjoyable for all.

*Our Junior Warden, Angelo S. Deserio has been a valuable asset to our Lodge this year as well as being elected Worshipful Master of Madison Lodge in Joliet. Brother Angelo is now a Right Worshipful as he was recently appointed as the Illinois Grand Lodge Representative to Herzogovinia and Bosnia. We now know where he will vacation this year. Brother Angelo was also interviewed in July by Comcast CNN Neighborhood News regarding the Grand Lodge of Illinois Student Assistance Program. His photo could be seen on the Internet, it may take you a few minutes to recognize him because he is smiling. Good photo.

*Again, another Lodge year is drawing to a close and it has been filled with Degrees and Activities. We are very fortunate to have a Grand Lodge Instructor and Grand Lecturer as our Master for the past two years. Right Worshipful Glenn Snider has shared with us all his vast ritual knowledge and strived to help each of us improve as Officers and with learning the WORK. We have come to know that making a Lodge successful is truly a team effort. Replete in our tuxedos and now white gloves, we put on some pretty impressive degrees, and we are having fun doing them. Our Chaplain of so very many years, Brother Carson A. Spears, Jr. will finally get a chance to sit on the side-lines, reflect upon his 89 plus years and help coach our newer Officers. But he will not sit idle as we have many things for him to do, including presenting his beautiful lectures.

*Our Annual Installation is planned for Saturday, October 25th, at the Lodge Hall and it will be open to all friends and family of our Officers. Then begins another year of activities and some maybe new. There is always unfinished work and we currently have four Brethren learning their catechisms.

MEMORY
"The secert of a good memory is attention and attention to a subject depends upon our interest in it. We rarely forget that which has made a deep impression on our minds".....Tyron Edwards

"He who is not strong im memory should not meddle with lying.".....Michel de Montaigne

AND FINALLY, TO HELP OUR YOUNG CORPS OF OFFICERS:

"Grow up as soon as you can. It pays. The only time you really live fully is from thirty to sixty."

"The young are slaves to dreams; the old servants of regrets.Only the middle-aged have all their five senses in keeping of their wits.".....William Harvey Allen

*On Friday, July 18th at our Stated Meeting, the members present voted on an Amendment, submitted in June, to change the hour for the Stated Meetings from 800pm to 730pm, and this was overwhelmingly passed. Beginning with our Stated Meeting on Friday, August 1st the hour will be 730pm. Dinner will continue starting at 630pm.

*We were all shocked and saddened at the tragic death of one of our newest Master Masons, Brother Santos Simon, aged 27. After leaving work in early July and while riding his motorcycle, he was involved in a traffic accident resulting in his death. On August 10, 2007 Brother Senteno took his first step into our Fraternity and he was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on Friday, January 18, 2008 a day he was very proud of. We shall all miss him and his eternal smile.
